喜んだときの英語表現

(A) I’m happy.　うれしい。
(B) I’m so happy.　=I feel so happy.　=I’m in heaven.　うれしくてたまらない。
(C) I’ve never been this happy.　=I couldn’t be better.　最高の気分だ。
(D) I’m excited.　=I’m thrilled.　わくわくしてます。
(E) I feel great!　=I feel good!　=I feel terrific!　いい気分だ！
(F) I’m in a good mood today.　今日は上機嫌だ。
(G) I’m glad to hear that.　=I’m pleased to hear that.　=I’m happy to hear that.　=That’s good to hear.
それを聞いてうれしいよ。
(H) I’m so glad the exam’s over.　試験が終わってうれしい。
(I) Nothing could be more wonderful.　=Nothing would please me more.　=Nothing could be nicer.
これにまさる喜びはありません。
(J) It was such a pleasure to meet you.　お会いできてよかったです。
(K) This is too good to be true.　うそみたいだ。
(L) I'm walking on air.　有頂天だ。
(M) I jumped for joy.　胸がおどった。
(N) I'm proud of myself.　=I feel happy with myself.　=I feel good about myself.
我ながらよくやったと思います。
(O) I'm looking forward to this summer.　=I can hardly wait until this summer.
この夏が楽しみだ。
(P) I lucked out today.　今日はついてるよ。
(Q) My luck is changing!　=Things are going better for me.　私に運が向いてきたよ。
(R) That was a break.　=We lucked out on that.　幸運でしたよ。

(U) I did it!　やった！
(V) All right!　やったー！
(W) Sounds great!　いいね！

(Y) This is it!　これだよ!

上記の英語表現の解説

(C) 直訳は「私はこれほどうれしく思ったことは今までになかった」。

(D) be excited / be thrilledで「興奮している」。

(E) terrificは「いい気分」をより強調した表現。

(J) 初対面で会った人に対して言うことば。pleasureは「楽しいこと」「快楽」。

(K) 直訳すると「本当にしてはよすぎる話だ」。あまりにもいい話を聞いたときに使う。

(L) 文字通り「宙を歩く」。天にものぼるような嬉しさが伝わってくる表現。

(N) be proud of…で「…を誇りとしている」。「…を光栄に思う」。

(P) アメリカのスラング的な表現。

(Q) luckは「運」「めぐり合わせ」。

(R) breakは「運」「チャンス」。

(S) 喜びや驚き・賞賛を表す。

(T) 喜び、驚きとともに少し困った気持ちも表す。Oh, girl!という表現はない。

(U) 達成したこと、成功したことに対して、「やったぞ！」「うまくいったぞ！」を表現。相手がやったときはYou did it!と言う。

(V) All right! はいろいろな場面で使われるが「やったー！」「いいぞ！」といった場面でも使える。

(W) 相手の提案などを聞いて「いいね！」と言うとき。物・人など何かを見て「すばらしい！」と言うときはLooks great!となる。

(Y) 探していたものが見つかったときなどに使われる。

（喜んでいそうな、幸せそうに見える相手に対して話しかける表現も含みます）

(A) I’m so happy today!　Did you get some good news?
今日はとても幸せだよ。－何かいい知らせでもあったのかい？

(B) You look happy today.　Yes. I got a raise.
今日はうれしそうだね。－うん昇給したんだ。

(C) Did you receive my birthday card?　Yes, you made me happy. Thank you.
ぼくの誕生日カード受け取った？－うん。私を幸せな気分にしてくれてありがとう。

(D) How do you feel?　Couldn’t be better.
気分はどう？－最高ですよ。

(E) I heard you're going on vacation next week.　Yeah, I’m so excited.
来週、お休みを取るんですって？－ええ、わくわくしてます。

(F) I’m glad to hear that.　I thought you would be.
それはうれしいニュースですね。－喜ぶだろうと思いました。

(G) I finally bought that new car I always wanted.　That’s good to hear.
ずっと欲しかった新車をついに購入したんだ。－それを聞いてうれしいよ。

(H) Business is booming.　That’s good to know.
商売が繁盛しています。－それはいいことを聞いた。

(I)　Do you like your job?　It’s my dream come true.
仕事、気に入っているかい？－念願がかないました。　※dream come trueで「夢がかなう」「念願がかなう」。

(J) We’re having a baby.　That’s too good to be true.
赤ちゃんができたのよ！－うそみたいだ。

(K) I’m proud of myself.　You should be.
われながらよくやったと思います。－まったくそうです。

(L)　Our new office will be ready soon.　I’m looking forward to it.
もうすぐ新しいオフィスができますよ。－楽しみにしているよ。

(M)　Tomorrow is the office party.　I can’t wait.
明日は会社のパーティだよ。－待ち遠しいな。

(N) Did you pass the exam?　I made it!
試験に合格した？－やったよ！

(O) I’ve got a new job!　You did it!
新しい仕事が決まったよ。－よくやったね！

(P) I’ll charge this to our company.　All right!
会社の経費で落とすよ。－やったー！

(Q) Didn't that policeman give you a ticket?　No, he didn't. I lucked out today.
あの警官は交通違反のチケットを切らなかったの？－うん、今日はついてるよ。

(R) I found $10.00 on the street!　It’s your lucky day.
道で10ドル落ちているのを見つけたんだ。－ついてるね。

(S) What is a good gift for Tracy?　This is it!
トレーシーに何をあげたらいいかな。－これだよ！
