英語で数式が書いてあるとなかなか読みづらいことがありますよね。もっと複雑な数式もありますが簡単な数式を英語でも読めるようにしておいて損はないと思います。以下簡単な数式の英語での読み方を紹介します。

5+4-9 → Five plus four is [equals] nine. / Five and four are nine.

9-6-3 → Nine minus six is [equals] three.

2-2.6= -0.6 →Two minus two point six is [equals] minus [negative] zero point six.

8x7-56 → Eight times seven is [equals] fifty-six.

30÷5=6 → Thirty divided by five is [equals] six.

20÷6=3…2 → Twenty divided by six is [equals] three with a remainder of two.

y = x² → y equals x squared.

y = 2x³+1 y → y equals two x cubed plus one.

y = 5⁴ → y equals five to the fourth power.

y = x⁻¹ → y equals x to the minus first power.

y = 2√5 → y equals two times the square root of five.

y = f(x) → y is a function of x. / y equals f of x.
